Welcome to
Briarcliffe, the best small town in Delaware County!!
By Colleen Frayne
We are excited to have you here and we want to tell you a little bit about our community. There are many friendly people of all ages. We enjoy having the yearly summer block parties and also the many activities Briarcliffe has to offer.
Some of the recreational activities include: Briarcliffe Swim Club, Briarcliffe Bingo on Tuesdays and Saturdays, the Briarcliffe Seniors Group, many sports programs, and several playgrounds. We have a wonderful athletic organization (B.A.A.) with many different sports for boys and girls ages 5 & up. Most of the games are held at the Fieldhouse Complex on Bartram Avenue. There is basketball, softball, baseball, t-ball, hockey, and volleyball.
The Briarcliffe Shopping Center, which is located in the center of town on Ashland Avenue, is very convenient for all. These stores include: Alfred’s Florist, Reflections Hair Salon, Guy’s Cold Cuts, Little Duke of Erle’s (Sandwich Shop), and Victory Cleaners. Also next to that we have an auto repair shop. Located on Bartram Avenue, we have the Darby Township municipal/administration building. The people who work here can help you with any questions or concerns.
Although we are a small town, we have easy access to several main roads. Some of them are: Providence Road, South Avenue, Oak Avenue, Chester Pike, and MacDade Boulevard. Several businesses are located on these roads such as: Wal-Mart, Wawa, Dunkin’ Donuts, Pep Boys, fast food places, several gas stations, Giant Supermarket, Acme, Pathmark, Blockbusters, Peddlers Alley Dollar Store, CVS, Walgreens, Post Office, and MacDade Mall. The Septa Bus makes several stops throughout our town to take you to any of these wonderful places. You can even visit downtown Philadelphia by taking the Amtrak train at two locations: Providence Road or Oak Avenue.
Within the vicinity, we have quite a few Catholic and Public schools and several churches. We have one of the finest police, fire, and ambulance departments around. Our town is a very safe and well-liked community!
