Scholarship
A) Applicant must be a family member (son or daughter) of a voting member, or a voting member in good standing in his or her own right at the time the application is presented to the Briarcliffe Athletic Association.
B) Applicant must be enrolled in the 8th grade or higher.
II. AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP
A) Minimum of $1,000 per scholarship.
III. FREQUENCY
A) Scholarships will be awarded annually.
IV. USE OF FUNDS
A) Scholarship will be awarded to an applicant to help pay tuition expenses at either a high school (ninth grade or above), college or a state accredited equivalent.
B) Scholarship must be used or surrendered within one year of receipt or within one year of graduation from high school if not used at the high school level.
C) Funds will be disbursed made payable to both recipient and school and be applied toward tuition fees only.
V. APPLICATIONS
A) Applicant can apply more than once but not in the same calendar year. Prior scholarship recipient must wait a year before reapplying.
B) Applicant will be required to present an essay (500 words maximum). The theme of the essay will be determined annually.
VI. TIMETABLE
A) Application must be received by scholarship committee: February 15th
B) Essays received by selection committee by: February 28th
C) Presentation of scholarship : 1st Sun in May
VII. MISCELLANEOUS
A) Interviews will be scheduled and conducted by the scholarship committee.
B) Applicant must arrange for a certified copy of their student transcript and be available to the scholarship committee prior to or during the interview.
C) Scholarship candidate will be rated in these areas: academies, interview and essay.
